Full Description
Wreck.
Marked on Admiralty chart 1957 as at 53 degrees 09' north, 1 degree 14' east.
E. Rose (NAU), 28 January 1983.
Survey notes at 52.58.46 north, 001.16.28 east (probably same).
SS Empress, merchant ship built by Short Bros in 1882.
Struck wreck and foundered 23 January 1915 when in ballast Sunderland to London.
1971 found to be very broken up.
Boilers and engine room highest point remaining to 1.2m (4 feet).
Apparently was at least partly of wood.
