Summary

This is the site of a settlement dating to the Late Saxon and medieval periods. Fieldwalking in the 1980's and metal-detecting between 2003 and 2012 recovered pottery dating from the Iron Age to the post-medieval period; a large amount of medieval and post-medieval building material and Roman and Middle Saxon to post-medieval coins and metal objects. The metal finds include Iron Age and Roman brooches; a Roman bracelet fragment, furniture fitting and cosmetic mortar; a Roman or Middle Saxon stylus; Middle Saxon and Late Saxon hooked tags and pins; a medieval curtain fitting, strap fittings, part of a mirror and a thimble; medieval/post-medieval thimbles and a buckle and post-medieval dress accessories, harness mounts and part of a window came.
