Summary

The site of a small building, possibly a smithy, containing re-used medieval stone from St Mary's Abbey (NHER 4396). It was demolished in 1993. Three pieces of medieval pottery were found during building works in 1994.

May 1994. Building described earlier demolished 1993. JCB excavations 1994 hit ?complete pot 1.8m (6 feet) down on building site. Three sherds recovered of Grimston Ware bung-hole cistern. See report (S1) in file.
