Summary

Fenland fieldwalking in 1983 recovered sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery from this location. Additionally, a roddon of uncertain date was identified in this area.

12 March 1983. Fieldwalking in atrocious conditions - newly drilled and levelled.
Odd sherds, medieval?, over field.
Includes at 4877 0907 (Context 2) concentration of Roman pottery. Sparse medieval and post medieval material.
Medium amount of bone and modern stuff such as asbestos fragments. Source of pottery within grey silt matrix - but not an exact correspondence for pottery spreads beyond it.
The site is almost in a depression but farmer knew nothing of filling in of a pond or such like.
A roddon a few metres to east.
Approximately 60m north-to-south x 35m east-to-west at 2.1m (7ft) OD.
