Summary

Pottery fragments dating from the Roman to the post medieval period, and a medieval coin from the reign of Henry III, found by fieldwalking. Metal detecting in 2007 recovered Roman coins, Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post medieval objects.

21 February 1983. Fieldwalking in medium conditions, including areas of peat valley bottom that would repay more systematic work to highlight concentrations.
Roman greyware sherd.
Grimston and Thetford bowl and jar sherds.
Early medieval jars.
St. Neots and later medieval shelly wares.
1 unglazed Stamford.
Medieval glazed including Grimston and non-Grimston fabrics.
Few Late medieval like late medieval/early post medieval.
Very few post medieval including 1 stoneware.
Shortcross penny at TF 7364 0414. Identified as Henry III 1223 to 1242. North class 7 Moneyer Osmund Canterbury.
Circular sectioned hone.
Collection suggests activity late 11th or 12th to 15th century.

3 Roman, 5 medieval and 2 post medieval coins.
Romano-British, Early Saxon, Late Saxon/medieval, medieval and post medieval metal objects, 1 post medieval token and 8 jettons.
