Earthworks of medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S6) and the site can be seen to be considerably larger than was previously recorded. The earthworks in the area of Chase Farm suggest enclosures and probable tofts (S1-S4). These features are likely to relate to the medieval settlement indicated by finds to the immediate south of the site (see NHER 23064 for details). The remainder of the earthworks appear to relate agricultural boundaries and drainage features. The southernmost part of these earthworks was within an area of aerial photograph mapping undertaken as part of the NMP phase of an ALSF funded assessment project. As the majority of the earthworks fell outside of the mapping area it was decided that none of the features would be mapped, as the site would be better mapped and interpreted as a whole. The aerial photographs suggest that the earthworks may continue further north into Setchey, but further aerial photograph consultation would be required to assess the former extent of the features.
