Summary

The site of a wayside cross, marked on a map of 1615.

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Location

Map sheet TF64SE
Civil Parish OLD HUNSTANTON, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

1615.
'Stump Cross' marked on LeStrange map (NRO OA1).
Difficult to place exactly owing to late 19th century extending of park and large marking on 1615 map.
Field boundary in park seems to follow the line of the old road.
Name indicates definitely a wayside cross and not just a crossroad name.
E. Rose (NAU), 17 May 1983.
