Full Description
Pre 1983. 'Found on river bank between Nuns Bridges and a heap of dredgings'.
Lead plaque. Rough edge, a pilgrim sign from Rome. Inscription + SIGNA APOSTOLORVM PETRI ET PAVLI. Half-length figures: St Paul with sword to left, St Peter with key on right. Attachment holes seem to be secondary as they disturb inscription. Probably 13th-14th century. Dimensions of 3.6cm x 3.1cm. Plain back. The corner holes are original however.
Identified by J. Cherry (British Museum).
E. Green (NCM) 18 March 1983.
