Summary

Ridge and furrow and a former field system were reportedly seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946. A more recent review of aerial imagery for the site has failed to identify these features; marks left by recent agricultural activity may have been confused for archaeological features.

1946. RAF aerial photograph.
Ridge and furrow. ?Old field system.

Field under arable, slight depression and rise noted in ploughsoil north of Barwick Hall. Could be headland, but farmer thinks in terms of modern ploughing operations.

The undated ridge and furrow and former field system described above were not identified on the consulted sources. It is possible that marks left by recent agricultural activity, visible on mid-1940s aerial photographs such as (S1)-(S2), were misidentified as archaeological features. No mapping has been undertaken for the site.
