There appears to be the remains of at least one post medieval road, visible as a double ditched cropmark. This can be seen on RAF 1946 aerial photographs (S2) and NLA 1977 aerial photographs (S3), and is marked on Faden’s map of Norfolk (1797) (S4). The cropmark of this road runs from TF9374 4141 to TF9365 4111 and there is a break in the cropmark around TF9371 4126. The fact that this road is marked on Faden indicates that it is at least pre-1797 in date.
As well as this road there are also other double ditched linear features here – possibly further roads/tracks (though these are not marked on Faden). The first of these runs from TF9362 4121 to TF9369 4126. It appears to be aligned on the gap to be seen in the road already discussed, thus reinforcing the possibility of it being another road/track, as it may have once formed a junction at this point(?). The last stretch of double ditched linear is much shorter and is located around TF9378 4136. Next to it there is a single ditch linear that runs from TF9379 4136 to TF9377 4132.
H. Clare (NMP), 11 October 2002.
