Full Description
The central grid reference of this site has been altered from TG 3680 1427 to TG 3684 1426. The trackway and other possible enclosure features, previously recorded within this site, are now under NHER 13102.
30 July 1979. Aerial Archaeology Foundation air photography (S1).
Positive cropmarks.
Enclosure, rectangular?
D. Edwards (NAU) 18 August 1983.
Not plotted due to insufficient reference points.
19 June 1996. NLA aerial photography (S2).
NGR amended from original of TG 3674 1420.
Two ring ditches visible, more may be present.
Geological patterning obscuring over all field surface.
A trackway can also be seen leading off from th epreviously recorded enclosure.
Several linear and rectilinear features can be detected, although these again are masked by the geological background.
S. Massey (NLA) 14 August 2001.
May 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch are visible on aerial photographs to the north of South Walsham Broad (S2). The site is centred on TG 3684 1426. The archaeological origin of these cropmarks is not certain and it is possible that the mark is caused by underlying geological deposits. The second ring ditch, referred to above and located approximately 100m to the northwest, was not mapped due to a greater concern that the marks were non-archaeological in origin. If the ring ditch, measuring 23.5m in diameter, is the remains of a man-made feature then it is possibly the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow.
S. Massey (NMP) 30 May 2007.
