Summary

A pilgrim badge depicting Henry VI was found on the site of a demolished greenhouse. Metal detecting here has also recovered a Roman coin, a silver Late Saxon or medieval ring and a 16th century hooked tag.

October 1995. Metal detecting.
?Late Saxon or medieval silver finger ring in three fragments. Very delicate flattened section hoop, empty oval bezel with paste adhesive. Hoop engraved with lozenges with central dashes and edge nicks between, engraving ?once nielloed?
16th century hooked tag. Circular plate with belleted edge. Equal-armed cross with openwork multiple holes between arms, attachment loop missing.
