These pieces (some of which may have come from nearby fields) included probable Palaeolithic flakes and a core, Early Neolithic and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age arrowheads and a wide range of other pieces that were not closely datable.

1983. Stray Find.
Various prehistoric worked flints recovered from several fields in Bawsey by [2]. The majority were said to come from this field (Galley Hill), although the collection also included pieces from Mintlyn Church Field (NHER 28924) and a field to the south (NHER 28923). These were identified by J. J. Wymer (NAU) and are presumably the finds the unidentified flints noted above. Four arrowheads (presumably including the two previously recorded pieces) were definitely from this field:
1 Early Neolithic long leaf-shaped arrowhead.
1 Early Neolithic wide leaf-shaped arrowhead.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age long barbed and tanged arrowhead with short barbs and long tang.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead with long tang.
The poorly provenanced finds included:
5 ?Palaeolithic stained and worn flints, including 4 flakes and 1 core.
14 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age 'button' scrapers.
307 undatable prehistoric flints, including 149 flakes, 2 flakes off hammerstone(s), 1 long crude blade, 54 retouched flakes, 1 flake retouched as 'knife', 87 scrapers (including 76 rounded end scrapers and 11 crude scrapers), 2 bifacial pieces, 1 fabricator, 5 cores, 2 picks (small and broken), 2 borers and 1 ?arrowhead (broken, unfinished).
See list in file.
