Full Description
Late 1970s. Found with metal detecting. West side of wood and southeast of bungalow
Early Saxon metal objects, suggesting Anglo-Saxon cemetery, but no details known.

Note that the Wilton Pendant (NHER 5303) was found at Wilton while digging gravel and the wood is very irregular, possibly quarried. This is a possible findspot for it. In October 1983 a water main trench passed about 50m southwest of this spot, no sign of anything.
A. Gregory (NAU) 17 October 1983.
November/December 1995.
3 molten fragments of copper alloy, probably parts of Early Saxon brooches.
All photographed.
Headplate fragment of great square headed brooch, with ?style 1 ornament.
Fragment with curving mouldings, ?side of footplate of great square headed brooch?
Decorated fragment, uncertain motifs.
A. Rogerson (NLA) 29 January 1996.
