Full Description
6 October 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Field weathered and wheat to 15cm. Moderately good conditions.
Concentration of Roman sherds in excess of 40m diameter. Adjacent to but impinging on large roddon to south. Associated most certainly with settlement traces (e.g. ditches and gullies) excavated on site NHER 19215 which is 60m to the east. This concentration forms the only surface evidence of stain.

June 1994. Metal detecting and field collection.
Produced large collection of Roman potsherds (details to follow) and only one Roman coin.

Around eighty Roman sherds including Samian footring with incised 'N' - see identification in file.
One amphora body sherd, one shelly, colour coated sherds predominantly Nene Valley.
Six medieval sherds, including glazed Grimston.
One leg medieval bronze cauldron.
One biconical lead weight with remains of iron within, probably from Roman steelyard.
