Summary

Fieldwalking in 1983 by the Fenland Survey recovered a small number of Roman and medieval pottery sherds from this field, as well as noting a concentration of Roman pottery sherds with some medieval sherds and modern debris.

28 October 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Conditions not good. Rough ploughed and weathered.
Context 1: odd medieval and Roman sherds. WPP AK (S1).
Context 2: at 5159 1363 concentration of Roman pottery, some medieval apparently on top and over sides of small roddon though latter not particularly clear. Great deal modern debris (brick, tile, glass, metal). Some animal bone - date? Roman pottery in majority, amount of medieval uncertain (note however, field lies behind building called The
Manor House - but date of name?). 70m north to south x 35m east to west. Roman pottery extends 40m further north. WPP 10 (S2).
