Summary

A complete Neolithic polished axehead and parts of two others were found around 1969. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of pieces of Iron Age and possible Roman pottery and prehistoric worked and burnt flints. A concentration of prehistoric burnt flints was also identified.

Complete ground axe and two broken ground axes (one butt end, one cutting end both patinated with faint mottled staining).

23 December 1986. Fenland fieldwalking. Over whole field.
Conditions: weathered soil, some regeneration.
Context 1. General scatter. MTW CM.
Odd Iron Age and ?Roman pottery, occasional flint, also pot boilers at various points.

Context 3 at TL 7226 9662. MTW 82.
Concentration of pot boilers (sparse, locally moderate) on ridge of chalk loam and spreading beyond. 47m northeast to southwest x 31m at 4.6m OD.
