Summary

A small group of prehistoric worked flints were recovered by the Fenland Survey fieldwalking in 1983, while metal-detecting between 2015 and 2016 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins as well as medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Middle Bronze Age palstave; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval pewter rings, a spindle whorl, a spur buckle, an end cap and possible hilt plate from knives, a plate from a casket or box with a keyhole and a fragment of copper alloy binding strip, probably from a piece of furniture; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings.

5 November 1983. Fenland fieldwalking.
WGY AF.
Sandy ridge on north side of shallow dry valley still partly peat filled, probably skirtland.
Winter wheat, ground well weathered, sand rather than more normal sand with a lot of chert gravel.
Small group of flints, fairly restricted, about 50m diameter. Good black quality flints, no retouched fragments but suggests very limited activity.

Medieval buckles, strap-ends, bar mounts, an end cap from a scale tang knife, a plate from a casket or box with a keyhole and a fragment of copper alloy binding strip, probably from a piece of furniture.
