Summary

A Wellington bomber crashed at this site in July 1941. The site was excavated by the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum in 1984 and parts of the aircraft were recovered.

16 July 1941. 23.30 hours. Crash Site.
Wellington 1c X3220, 40 squadron, picked up by searchlights at 122m to 152m (400 to 500ft), dived to ground. 6 crew killed.
Excavated by RAF bomb disposal team and afterwards by Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum in October 1983.
