Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 1980 and 2015 recovered ?Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Neolithic/Bronze Age and undatable prehistoric worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman metalworking debris, a brooch, bell and hair pin; an Early Saxon brooch; an Early/Middle Saxon Coptic bowl foot ring; a Middle/Late Saxon pin; a particularly fine Late Saxon stirrup; a Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval buckles, harness fittings, a mount and harness pendant; a medieval/post-medieval lead weight and a post-medieval shoe buckle and clapper bell.

6 Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flakes, 1 blade and 1 scraper. Flakes large - from production site?

1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd (Ipswich Ware).

4 Roman pottery sherds (including shell-gritted, unusual gritty fabric and greyware).
1 ?Roman copper alloy object. Use unknown.

1 ?Palaeolithic retouched flint flake. Stained, of Palaeolithic aspect, but not Palaeolithic type - a puzzle.

1 undatable burnt clay fragment - ?loomweight.
1 prehistoric worked flint.
1 Iron Age pottery sherd.
1 Roman headstud brooch.
1 ?Roman bell fragment and 1 copper alloy/lead lump.
1 Early-Middle Saxon copper alloy Coptic bowl foot ring (7th century).
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
Late Saxon pottery sherds (Thetford-type ware).
