Map

1 December 1983. Large ditch of dubious antiquity. In pasture.
At first sight this appears to be the fragment of a moat. About 7.5m wide, over 1m deep, part waterfilled. Almost perfectly straight, may continue as filled in feature almost to roadside ditch to northeast. At southwest end broadens out to form pond? However, this is in the middle of a medieval drove line. Not a likely place for a moat, and no continuations traceable. WPP BG (S1).
For full details of wares, flint types etc see Fenland Folders (S2).
R. Silvester (NAU), 1 December 1983.
