Full Description
1 December 1983. Fenland fieldwalking, good well weathered ploughsoil. 40m northwest to southeast x 15m northeast to southwest.
Limited concentration of medieval pottery with some bone which may or may not be contemporary. On edge of artificial mound constructed on edge of medieval drove. Mound probably runs under Ivy House. Top of mound to north covered with much post medieval debris particularly animal bone, brick, fired clay, sparse shell, glass and moderate post medieval pottery. Extent is not recorded of post medieval finds but generally separate from medieval finds. Possible that this is a late mound which covers more extensive spread of medieval material? WPP 26 (S1).
For full details of wares, flint types etc see Fenland Folders (S2).
R. Silvester (NAU), 1 December 1983.
