Summary

Fieldwalking in 1983 by the Fenland Survey recovered a concentration of Roman pottery sherds over a large area, including the top of a large roddon. A few fragments of post medieval and medieval pottery sherds, some animal bone, and a reasonable amount fired clay were also recovered.

30 November 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Field of winter wheat, fairly good weathered.
On side and spreading onto top of large roddon. 100m east to west x 80m north to south minimum. WPP 24 (S1).
Moderate concentration of Roman pottery over large area. Farmer stated that this shows a darker silt when ploughing. Few fragments post medieval and medieval sherds, some animal bone, reasonable amount fired clay.
