Summary

Fieldwalking in 1983 by the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of Roman and medieval pottery sherds from across this field. A concentration of medieval and post medieval pottery sherds, animal bone, shell and fired clay fragments was also noted.

8 December 1983. Fenland fieldwalking, good well weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. Some of the material from Context 1 has been reidentified as Roman pottery. WPP BM (S1).
Context 2: at 5217 1330 scatter medieval pottery in dark stained silt. Sparse post medieval material here although much more to southwest on site of Willow Farm, moderate amounts of animal bone and shell, abundant fired clay, most of which probably derived from post medieval occupation. 30m x 25m. WPP 30 (S2).
