Summary

Fieldwalking in 1983 by the Fenland Survey noted a scatter of medieval pottery sherds across this field. A concentration of medieval pottery sherds, bone and pantile fragments and modern debris was also recorded.

14 December 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Former orchard, now ploughed with much rubbish on surface, rough and ploughed and moderately weathered. Amount of rubbish may obscure true amount of material. Poor conditions.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. WPP BQ (S1).
Context 2: at 4975 1470 scatter of medieval pot, some bone, fragments of modern debris and widespread and quite dense scatter of pantile fragments and like. About 43m east to west x 42m north to south minimum at 2.44m OD.
