Full Description
22 December 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Field, east side only along hedgerow on line of vanished medieval drove.
Reasonable conditions, wet but ground well-weathered and rough ploughed.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds along edge of field.
Context 2: at 5216 1257 small but dense concentration of medieval sherds and a large amount of building debris, presumably relates to later phase of activity. Moderate animal bone (Post medieval?), sparse post medieval sherds and glass. About 34m x 18m.
Context 3: at 5219 1253 small but dense scatter of medieval pottery. Post medieval debris covers whole area.
