Summary

An undated road surface was revealed when a series of drainage ditches were dug. The road surface exposed lines up with the route of a previously suggested Roman road.

December 1983. Series of drain trenches along south edge road.
Road surface revealed, flint 15cm thick at south edge of present metalling, 5cm thick at 1m south of edge of present metalling, 70cm below present verge surface. No finds or dating evidence when visited by A. Gregory (NAU). Previously noted by [1] and photographed by E. M. James (KLM). Note this road is on Bagshawe's suggested Lynn Roman Road alignment (S2), though there is no evidence yet that above feature is of Roman date.
