Summary

In 1984 a number of well-defined rectangular patches of bright clay were visible on this field, which had been recently ploughed. It was thought that these may have been the remains of three moated or ditched medieval house sites, running parallel to the modern B1077 road.

Map

11 January 1984. Seen on surface of freshly-ploughed field, but field not walked - all observations from roadside.
Three well-defined rectangular patches of bright orange-brown clay, surrounded by broad bands of very dark brown soil, in generally red-brown clay field, in line parallel to B1077.
Look very much like three moated or ditched house sites, each house parallel to B1077.
