Summary

Fieldwalking in 1984 by the Fenland Survey recovered numerous shell fragments and medieval pottery sherds from across this field. A large concentration of medieval pottery sherds, as well as shell, bone and clay fragments, was also noted, as well as some post medieval pottery sherds.

1 March 1984. Well weathered plough soil.
Context 1: numerous small shell fragments all over field, also numerous small abraded medieval sherds. WPA AL (S1).
Context 2: at 4938 1688. Large medieval pottery scatter beside road. Pottery moderate to abunant including large fragments. Shell abundant; bone sparse to medium, post medieval pot abundant, fired clay moderate. No rodden. 40 x 25m. (S2). WPA 6
