Summary

Metal detecting recovered a medieval seal depicting a figure of St Margaret with a cross and a dragon. The seal is inscribed *MARGARETA GILDE OF ?HOLSHAM. A post medieval ring was also found.

Pre February 1984. Metal detecting. 'Found on 36 Acre Field behind No. 9 Egmere Road'.
Seal; bronze with handle ending in loop with trefoil shaped opening. Figure of St Margaret with cross and dragon. Lettering reads *MARGARETA GILDE OF ?HOLSHAM.
Ring: plain crude bronze with beaded line at top and bottom edges about half a centimetre wide.

No.9 is at 9331 3701 but fields 'behind' this are all 1 to 2 acres and nearest 36 acre field is over 1/4 mile away. ?Did finder mistake number of field immediately behind house on (S1) field 37 for acreage?
