Summary

Fieldwalking in 1984 by the Fenland Survey recovered a number of medieval pottery sherds from across this area, as well as recording three concentrations of material. These comprised medieval and post medieval pottery sherds, shell, bone, fired clay and building debris. A medieval drove and small roddon were also noted.

20 March 1984. Field of well weathered plough soil.
Context 1 = odd sherds medieval pottery, more frequent towards drove. Includes one Late Saxon sherd.
Context 2 at 5507 1433. Concentration medieval pottery, shell, bone, post medieval pottery. Fired clay, general building debris all moderate.
On edge medieval drove and also on partly a small roddon. 0.4m high 45 x 26m.

Addenda: Context 3 at 5510 1445. Concentration medieval sherds, shell, bone all moderate. Post medieval pot and fired clay etc sparse. Silt slightly stained. 30 x 20m. On edge drove and roddon as Context 2.
Context 4 at 5509 1441. Medieval sherd concentration also shell and bone, sparse (pot moderate); post medieval pot and fired clay etc very very sparse. No real detectable staining. 25 x 17m.
