Map

5 April 1984. Fenland Fieldwalking
Scatters of medieval pottery, much Middle Saxon Ipswich ware, Late Saxon Stamford and Thetford wares on old roddon.
See full details in file.
Compiled by E. Rose (NAU), 1 May 1984.

Some of the material found by R. Silvester has been reidentified as querns and a whetstone.

1989-1990. Further fieldwork during Fenland Evaluation Project
Auger holes were drilled on and off the roddon and a sample of the roddon silt taken.
The Middle Saxon exploitation of Marshland was almost completely unkown prior to the Fenland Survey. This site represents one of the larger, more significant examples of the period. Part of this site may be sealed under the bank which is believed to be medieval. There is also the possibility that the site is near a river crossing.
Ruth Fillery-Travis (NLA), 10 July 2007.
