Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting between 1983 and 2014 recovered a prehistoric flint flake; post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and token and undated and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an undated lead weight or spindle whorl, a medieval/post-medieval belt or harness mount and a post-medieval harness mount.

1983 to 1984. Field Walking. Hales Survey: Site 98.
Site 98 is the field located west of Loddon village and east of the bypass, south of the river.
At the time of the survey the field surface was ploughed and rolled. Sandy patches were noted in southwest area.
A single flint tool was recovered, identified as a flake by J. Wymer (NAU), January 1985.
An undated copper alloy bar fragment, square in section, was also recovered.
Large quantities of 19th and 20th century pottery were observed but not collected. Dark soil and building rubble was noted in the southeast corner.

April 2004. Metal detecting.
Three medieval coins, a post medieval coin, a post medieval token and four post medieval jettons were recovered during metal detecting along with a medieval to post medieval belt or harness mount and an undated lead spindle whorl or weight.
