Summary

A piece of Neolithic or Iron Age pottery and medieval pottery fragments were found on the surface of a ploughed field in 1984. Also found were a medieval strap end and two pieces of post medieval tile.

Full Description

April 1984: Immediately west of earthwork. Found scattered over small area after meadow ploughed for first time.
One sherd of coarse flint-gritted, Neolithic or Iron Age, about three dozen sherds of 13th to 14th century including Grimston green-glazed, and two sherds of early medieval.

Addendum: also one medieval copper alloy strap-end; see sketch (S1) in the Illustration Library.
Also; two fragments of tile with hard sandy red fabric and sparse brown glaze; probably 16th/17th century.
