Summary

A fragment of Beaker pottery found during field walking suggests that this site was occupied during the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, although the nature of that occupation is uncertain. This is the site of an Iron Age settlement, and fragments of Iron Age pottery have been collected during field walking. Field walking has also recovered prehistoric flints, including a concentration of potboilers, a Roman spindle whorl, medieval tile and fragments of pottery dating from the Late Prehistoric to the medieval periods. Metal-detecting in 2011 and 2012 recovered medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval pottery; a medieval strap-end, horse harness pendant and belt fitting; medieval/post-medieval vessel leg, crude copper alloy ring and lead weight; post-medieval silver cufflink, thimble, key and lead window came and undatable metal working waste, lead weights and a copper alloy ingot.
