NHER 20629 (Monument record) - Site of Late Saxon and early medieval settlement and multi-period finds

March and September 1984. Ordnance Survey field Great Fransham 179, southwest boundary is former parish boundary, not field boundary. Field walking in good conditions.
Medieval sherds including Grimston, late medieval/early post medieval, and early medieval, Thetford type and Late Thetford; one sherd Roman or Late Saxon.
Worked flints.

Stud, copper alloy, undated, no other significant finds.
Sherds Late Saxon and medieval, also collected.

This site, and NHER 20822, are recorded as LS16 and Med 60 in (S2). The settlement began to be occupied in the 11th century, and continued into the 12th century.
