Map

1983. Stray Find.
Found north-northwest of All Saints Church during gardening:
1 prehistoric quartzite pebble hammer. See copy of sketch (S1) in file.
W. F. Milligan (NCM), 10 July 1984.

Although originally identified as a Neolithic pebble hammer it should be noted that the drawing of this object suggests it is actually what would commonly be described as a mace with hour glass perforation. It would appear that the shape of this object has not been modified, in which case it is not closely datable; this form of mace having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.
P. Watkins (HES), 18 June 2013.
