March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The curvilinear cropmark identified as a trackway at this location on (S1) is in fact agricultural in origin. The cropmark is part of a former envelope pattern caused by the way in which the field was ploughed. Other aerial photographs of various dates reveal that numerous fields in this area show envelope pattern cropmarks as two parallel linear marks, rather than as the more usual single lines.
J. Albone (NMP), 09 March 2006.
