Summary

A concentration of prehistoric pot boilers has been found during field walking at this site. This was the site of a small settlement during the medieval period, which had been abandoned by the 14th century, when it was recorded in medieval documents. In the late 16th century a new tenement was built on the site, encroaching onto the common. Field walking has recovered prehistoric flints, fragments of pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval period, medieval roof tile, and parts of a lava quern and slag of unknown date.
