Summary

Prehistoric potboilers, charcoal, and ash were found at this site during ploughing, suggesting that this is the site of a burnt mound from the prehistoric period. This interpretation is supported by the apparent presence of a spring close to this site.

1954. Casual Observation.
On first ploughing, heavy spread of pot boilers, ash, charcoal, and charred soil.

A sample of the pot boilers were donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1954.140).
The location of this site is marked on a subsequently produced map indicating the locations of various discoveries made on the Field House estate [2].

October 1992. Field Observation.
Mound survives in pasture at north end of site [3]; said to be well preserved. Site ploughed once. Unsuccessful attempts to drain field - spring nearby.
