Full Description
1979. Ordnance Survey field Great Fransham 364. Field walking in good conditions.
Medieval sherds including Grimston, early medieval and odd glazes.
Roman sherds including calcite gritted.
Post medieval sherds including glazed red earthenware, worked flint, lava, iron gouge of unknown date.
Possible Bronze Age sherd.

This site is recorded as Med 14 in (S2). A mid 14th century document refers to the 'old mill' of Gilbert de Fransham which was probably on, or very close to, this site. There are no surviving traces of a mill mound.
