Summary

Fieldwalking in 1984 by the Fenland Survey recovevered a general scatter of Roman and medieval pottery sherds from this field. Two concentrations of Roman pottery sherds, with some medieval sherds, were also noted.

2 November 1984. Fieldwalking in good conditions with weathered soil and young winter wheat.
Context 1: general scatter; odd sherds Roman and some medieval. WPP FB (S1).
Context 2: at 5164 1314. Small group Roman sherds, not sufficient to indicate size. WPP FA (S2).
Context 3 at 5157 1312. Sparse to moderate scatter of Roman pottery close to and possibly on edge of large roddon. Area 33m northwest to southeast x 35m northeast to southwest with odd sherds beyond. WPP 90 (S3).
Finds in NCM.
Some of the material from contexts 2 & 3 has been reidentified as medieval pottery.
