Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting between 1984 and 2011 has recovered a wide range of prehistoric finds dating from the Mesolithic to the Iron Age period. Roman objects have also been recovered. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey has identified several concentrations of burnt prehistoric flints that suggest this was the site of prehistoric burnt mounds. A Roman pottery concentration was also identified. Several Iron Age coins have been found on the site including one made by the Trinovantes tribe from Essex. Other artefacts recovered include a Middle Bronze Age copper alloy socketed spearhead, an Iron Age La Tene I brooch and Roman coins mostly dating from the 1st and 2nd century AD.
