Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey identified several scatters of Iron Age pottery. Some prehistoric worked and burnt flints, fragments of animal bone and a piece of Roman tile were also found. Later fieldwalking recovered a flake from a Neolithic polished stone axehead. Subsequent metal-detecting between 2021 and 2025 recovered Middle Saxon and Late Saxon coins.

In reasonable ploughed and weathered field.

Context 1.
General scatter of flints with Iron Age sherds densest at above grid reference. FWL BL. Also some medieval sherds.

Context 2 at [1]:
Odd sherd of Iron Age pottery FWL BK.

Context 3 at [2]:
Sparse scatter of Iron Age sherds, very sparse animal bone also piece of tile that could be Roman and odd fragments of
post medieval rubbish; occasional flints. On flat chalk plateau. FWL 70.

Context 4 at [3]:
Sparse to moderate scatter of Iron Age sherds plus a few potboilers and odd bit of flint (?earlier activity) on flattish chalky plateau. Extension of nearby sites? Also distinctive round but broken pebbles. FWL 71.
