Summary

Roman coins were found in Pier Plain before 1930. The exact location and circumstances of their discovery are unknown, although it is possible that the coins may be post medieval trade tokens, rather than of Roman date.

Information in Conservation area report based on (S1), which is itself based on collections of F. H. Emms in Gorleston Library, which were made around the turn of the century.
Did he mean Roman coins, or are these recent trading tokens, perhaps foreign, as one would expect in a seaport?
