Summary

In 1984 several stolen items were recovered from this site, including four medieval funeral helms, and a chalice and paten which were stolen from Easton parish church.

Map

1984. In lane leading west from A1065 at Rowley Corner. Grid reference provided by Norfolk Police. Found by man walking dog.
Two tea-chests in polythene bin bags beside hole(s) in loke.
One box empty, other contained damaged silver chalice and paten subsequently identified by [1] as stolen from Easton Church, NHER 7827 in 1977.
Also 4 funerary helms, dismantled for packing. These were identified at the Tower of London as coming from Chevening, Kent; Wickhambrook and Rushbrooke, Suffolk; and East Harling, NHER 6049.
Latter was stolen before 1914, Suffolk helms were stolen in 1970s.
