Map

April 1985. Inside East gate of park.
Pillbox. Rectangular brick building with concrete roof and small windows under eaves. Informant [1] remembers this being built during World War Two and was afterwards asked to pay 10 pounds for it. This is a valuable confirmation that this type of building is a military structure.
E. Rose (NAU), 18 April 1985.

See record form (S1) in file by source [2], who adds: 1940/41 Home Guard store/shelter. Rectangular, two small windows high up in shortside to west. Brick built with concrete roof.
D. Walker (NLA), July 1996.

This structure, whilst physically similar to buildings at Holme and Docking, features four ventilators at lower and higher levels each side of the door. Docking and Holme have two both above the door's lintel. The interior of the this structure is devoid of any clues as to its former use. The owner states that the Hall was used by the Royal Flying Corps in WWI and the army in WWII (S2).
D. Gurney (HES), 30 August 2013.
