Summary

In October 1979 a ditch 2m wide was found in the side of gas pipe trench. The date and purpose of this ditch remains unknown.

In side of gas pipe trench. Ditch section 2m wide, 70cm deep after topsoil stripped. Grey soil fill. Apparently running
northeast-southwest. Formerly numbered NHER 9687/context 1 as on line of east ditch of NHER 9687 but this now found to have been a wrong marking (see NHER 9687). So identification unknown.
