Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds and a small number of Late Saxon pottery sherds. A concentration of medieval pottery sherds, shell and bone fragments was also noted, as well as evidence of a roddon and drove way. Metal detecting in 1992 recovered medieval metal objects and an unidentified Roman object.

3 April 1985. Fieldwalking on well weathered ploughsoil except for strip around edge of field.
Context 1 [1]: General scatter medieval sherds with small concentration. Some Late Saxon pottery sherds. WPA AS (S1).
Context 2 [2]: Concentration of sparse medieval pot and shell and bone. Modern material increasing towards northwest. On edge of drove which is followed by modern road. Possibly on top of roddon in addition. Area 31m northwest to southeast x 25m although scatter may be more than 25m wide for strip beside road recently drilled. One Late Saxon sherd. WPA 13 (S2).
