Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 by the Fenland Survey recovered a few medieval pottery sherds from across the field, with a small group noted at the eastern end. Two concentrations of medieval pottery sherds, along with bone and shell fragments, were also recorded.

5 April 1985. Fieldwalking.
Context 1: odd medieval sherds over field, with small group at east end, perhaps edge of another site. WPP FV (S1).
Context 2: at 5058 1694. Concentration medieval pottery, moderate, bone sparse to medium, shell sparse, only a little post medieval material. Set in grey soil on roddon, well weathered ploughsoil. 46m east to west x 28m north to south at 2.7m OD. WPP 102 (S2).
Context 3: at 5063 1696. Concentration pottery, medieval, moderate, shell sparse, bone sparse to moderate. Also one samian sherd. Site on a roddon but seems to be a separate concentration from Context 2 although a few sherds in between. 45m northeast to southwest x 23m northwest to southeast. WPP 103 (S3).
